THE Nambawan Savings and Loan Society’s week-long membership drive in the Highlands is to encourage more public servants to save money, an official says.
Business development manager Martin Kairuku was with more than 30 Correctional Services (CS) officers at Baisu Prison in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands on Friday.
“It is very important for working class people like you to have planned savings due to the high cost of living, and to meet urgent financial needs due to cultural and family obligations, especially meeting your children’s education expenses,” he told the CS staff.
Baisu CS commander Ramson Tiki urged his staff, especially those below 40, to consider a savings programme.
“Our retirement age is approaching but young people have a long way to go.
“So start your savings for your future needs, save now and start budgeting to sustain your family.”
Kairuku said the society offered school fee, Christmas, tertiary and housing savers and three loan products at a very low interest rate.
“Other public servants both in public and private sectors in Western Highlands who wished to sign up as new members can visit Mt Hagen branch located within the Gapina building,” he urged.
The team also handed over a new vehicle to the branch to boost member engagement.
