Nukundj keen on fake visa investigation

National

MINISTER for Immigration and Border Security Westly Nukundj is keen to see investigations into fake visas through to the end – with punishment for those involved.
Nukundj was reacting to people opposing his efforts to clean up the alleged scam in the immigration department.
“There’s one keyboard warrior (on social media) who said (I am) supposed to be talking about policy issues only and (leave) administrative matter to the chief migration officer,” he said.
“My response is this: When you’re talking about fake visas and setting up a taskforce or investigations, this is not an administrative matter,” Nukundj said.
“It’s really a policy issue.
“We don’t want illegal immigrants here.
“We don’t want foreigners who came to the country on a different visa and doing something else.
“This people are violating visa rules.
“They probably came in as tourists but are engaging in business activities.
“When we are trying to clean up this issue relating to visas, there’s also people going around our back, trying to water down and say bad things about the chief migration officer, the department and myself.
“But I must say that we would not bow down to any criticism against the intent of the investigations and the main mandate of the agency, which is to protect national security.”

  • Minister I solute you, you are doing a fine job. If the Chief Immigration officer and his team can not do their job and allowing lots of Asians and other foreigners doing business and living illegally in almost all the PNG provinces and doing business which are reserved for Papua New Guineans, who else will come down and correct this?

  • Well done, let the keyboard warrior script as much as he can. Pls Clean this mess up!

  • Mr Minister, these crooks keeping firing their bullets on you to hide their corrupt deals. This is a big issue that will eventually put National Security at stake. Please expose these culprits to light and have them prosecuted. You are the head of the agency so don’t back down irrespective what anyone thinks or say. Thumbs up Mr Minister!

    Sick and tired of corruption!!

  • These culprits are much smaller than this country PNG. This country is much bigger than them in all aspects ranging from security, reserved business for PNGeans and the list goes on….
Expose them of their corrupt deals and let them be prosecuted.
Another thumbs up for you Mr Minister.
