Nukundj: Quality transportation vital

PAPUA New Guinea has an approximate population of 7 million people, most of whom live in remote areas with poor access to transportation services, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Westly
Nukundj says.
“The majority of our people either access transportation services by road or sea and the need for quality transportation is vital in ensuring the safe movement of people, goods and service,” Nukundj said during the launching of the Ela MotorsToyota Hilux new Rally and Platinum models last week.
He said Ela Motors Ltd, as the leading distributor of quality trucks and cars, has also specialised itself in the sale of outboard motors and banana boats to enable maritime provinces to have safe sea transportation.
He said PNG was certainly a maritime nation comprising 2.42 square kilometres of sea area, with 151 islands and 15 Maritime Provinces that make up the country,thus it was very important to use quality and genuine transportation.
Nukundj applauded Ela Motors not only for providing quality and genuine products which were backed by spare parts and services, but for also providing employment for more nationals nation wide.He said Ela Motors has supported transport connectivity in land and sea that has improved services and engagement in socio-economic activities.“The company has contributed a lot to PNG’s development in other areas as well and for that we thank you.
