THE New Zealand government will provide NZ$10 million (K23mil) for children’s vaccination programme in Papua New Guinea.
NZ Deputy Prime Minster Winston Peters confirmed that, saying the programme would include protection from life-threatening and preventable diseases.
This was also to address the polio outbreak and strengthen the health system, he said.
“We will also work with the Australian government on this programme.”
Peters opened a New Zealand-funded St John Ambulance control room in Port Moresby yesterday.
NZ provided K3 million for the new command and operation centre at 3-Mile.
New Zealand High Commissioner Sue Mackwell and PNG Health Secretary Pascoe Kase attended the event.
