A SENIOR public servant with the Goroka district administration wants to know why police released a man who attacked him from the police cell.
Deputy district administrator for Goroka district Benson Imara said the man from Komiufa village, outside Goroka town, assaulted him and was arrested by police.
He claimed the arresting officer at the police station did not charge the man and let him leave.
He has written to provincial police commander Supt John Kale and other senior officers.
Attempts to get comments from Kale yesterday were unsuccessful.
Imara said he was attacked by the man last Saturday at Mt Kiss junction.
Police arrested the man and locked him up.
“I came on Monday morning and the officer advised me to wait. He later left at noon,” he said
He said the officer told him on Wednesday that the man was still in custody would be dealt with.
