WARDSTRIP Primary School students have been warned not to be involved in school fights next year.
Education Department standards division officer Elizabeth Kosi, who addressed the students and teachers yesterday, said those involved in school fights should not be in school.
“Wardstrip students, you are the biggest school in NCD and biggest in the country. Next year you will still be children of Wardstrip and your school is really expanding and our space is small and we are going up,” Kosi told the children.
“I have heard of a lot of school fights between Wardstrip and other schools in NCD. Let’s stop that. Why are you fighting?
“If you are doing that, then you are in the wrong place. When you want to fight at school, then you must be a home scholar.
“Your attitude and behaviour is very important. It’s a very big school. Many times the blame is put on the teachers, which isn’t fair.
“You have to behave and control yourselves. Your attitude and behaviour is important.
“We are building some policies in the department to cater for the students who complete Grade 8 and are unable to continue to higher learning institutions. It is about out of school children with the Unesco.”
Kosi explained the late marking of grade examination papers was due to funding issues in engaging markers.
“We used to have more markers and the job was completed in a week. But now the funding is less and with few markers, the work is delayed.
“We are late because our 2016 funding for examination allocations for this year were limited so we had to cut down the number of markers.
“Learning is of high standard and you will have to work your way up to compete with one another.
“Your parents are working hard to give you the best clothing and food so you have to work hard.”
