COMMANDING officer of the First Royal Pacific Island Regiment Lieutenant-Colonel Edison Napeyo is leaving to take up the post of director of land preparation.
He told soldiers during a farewell parade at Taurama Barracks it was a different feeling to serve among soldiers “where you feel in charge and protected too.
“But I am glad to accept the new post,” Napeyo said.
“I will be serving at the PNGDF headquarters at Murray Barracks starting next year.”
He will be succeeded by Lt-Col Boniface Aruma.
He urged the soldiers to improve the performance of their duties.
“Maintain your responsibilities including PNG’s border security as the country’s security is vulnerable along the sea and land borders,” he said.
Napeyo said the main focus and challenge for next year was the national election.
“Not all soldiers will be involved in the election operation,” he said.
“Only one company will be selected from headquarters to take care of that.”
