POLICE officers in Morobe are warned not to get involved in crime or face the law.
Morobe police commander Supt Alex N’Drasal said this warning implied to regular police, reservists or the auxiliaries.
“You are always the enforcers of the law and you have to be a very good example to everyone in the community that you work with,” he said.
N’Drasal made the comments after a police reservists was alleged to have involved in making of pornographic materials with a grade seven female student on Mar 15.
The girl was lured to the perpetrator by another woman and was heavily induced with alcohol before being sexually abused.
N’Drasal said this is beyond human decency and the actions of the reservist has tarnished the good name of the constabulary.
“I will have to confirm if this reservist is recruited by the Police Department or by Lae district authority,” he said.
“I believe those reservists engaged by the Police Department for 2017 National General Election has been removed by the police commissioner.
“If he is recruited by Lae district, the same procedures will follow and if it means he is found guilty, he will face termination depending on the allegations level against him”.
Meanwhile, Finschhafen police are working to verify the cause of the fire that burnt down a building that housed four grade ten classrooms and two offices.
N’Drasal said the offices contained academic results of students.
“The estimated value of the materials and the building is about K500,000 and police believe it could be the students that remain in the school or someone from the surrounding communities that burnt the classroom,” he said.
