A MAN has died and two are being treated at the Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) following a car accident on Sunday.
National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu said the accident involved a silver Toyota Mark II that crashed into a power pole in front of the Bomana Police College at around 2.30pm.
He said the driver was allegedly drunk when he lost control and drove off the road.
Ikumu said the impact killed the passenger sitting offside.
He confirmed that the deceased was Timmy Andrew Bana, from Pawapi village, Kagua, Southern Highlands.
Ikumu said the owner of the vehicle was unknown but was driven by Robin Rawala.
He said the driver and the other passenger’s condition were serious and both were hospitalised at hospital.
Ikumu said investigations would continue once the two injured individuals were released from the hospital. According to St John Ambulance, they transported three casualties to Port Moresby General Hospital.
They confirmed that one of the casualties had sustained serious head trauma and was unresponsive while on route to the hospital.
