PNG Power board chairman Andrew Ogil resigned from his post on Monday.
Ogil said he was happy that PNG Power Ltd (PPL) had in place a complete management team to manage and lead in capacity-building and meeting the significant challenges still faced by PPL and the national government’s objective of electrifying 75 per cent of the country by 2030.
He acknowledged the staff and management for the cooperation and support accorded to him in his 21 months as the board chairman.
The Government recently appointed Carolyn Blacklock as the acting managing director until a permanent appointment is secured.
“I have advised the management and staff to accord Ms Blacklock the support she needs to run the organisation,” Ogil said.
He said as chairman, he advocated a corruption-free organisation.
“I urge all staff to rise to that challenge and influence, change in your respective roles to create and cultivate an environment of free enterprise and competition in the way we conduct our business and ultimately delivery of our services.”
“Our board has embarked on some impact projects, including the gas-powered 57.8MW POM power project, the 66kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Gerehu substation and facilitating the construction of the 40MV A Kilakila substation with 66Kv transmission line connecting into the Port Moresby power grid.”
