Oil and Gas Act

Letters

I EXPRESS my disagreement on behalf of the people of Baimuru of the Kikori especially the impact area landowners.
To our Petroleum Minister, do review of the Papua LNG signing by the O’Neill government.
Minister Kerenga Kua we know that you are a lawyer by profession and also a minister newly appointed within the Marape Government of today.
We the simple people from the village also understands the Oil and Gas Act 1996 thus we have seen that all the activity of the oil and Gas Act have been followed accordingly by the O’Neill government and
the former Minister Dr Fabian Pok.
Chimbu Governor Michael Dua also said in an article in The National claiming that the Papua LNG project is also in the land mark boundary of Chimbu and he stressed on to say that he is happy with the review.
It is a mistake to do review of the Papua LNG signing because the Oil and Gas Act 1996 has not been amended and to our good Minister Kua we urge you to do amendment on the Oil and Gas Act 1996 first before you can review the agreement otherwise just pick up from where the former minister left off.
We appeal to our Prime Minister James Marape to instruct Kua to publish the importance points of review on media and newspapers so that all the country will know why the review is taking place on the current Papua LNG Agreement Signing.
