Oil Search donates books

Education

OIL Search donated 10,000 library books and reading materials
for teachers to the Hela Rural Development Foundation (HRDF) recently.
The books are to be distributed to 11 remote schools covering some 2,400 students in Komo-Margarima and Koroba-Kopiago.
The 11 schools are Lomia Primary, Hupikini Primary, Kolaria Primary, Levani Primary, Aluwini Primary and six elementary schools, Betege, Tiripa, Hitanapi, Levani one and two and Harukia.
Oil Search helped HRDF with the transportation of the books from Brisbane, Australia, to Hela.
This increases the number of schools benefiting from such donations of 38 in the province covering more than 15,000 students.
Lomia Primary School head teacher Tindix Kolant said it was a historical moment for his school to receive such support for the school library.
“God will bless HRDF and its partners such as Oil Search and others for helping remote schools,” he said.
HRDF founder Eric Yawas said this was the fourth time Oil Search had stepped in with logistics support since 2019.
“HRDF would not be able to deliver its projects without help from Oil Search,” he said.
