JONATHAN Pirah is the proud owner of a new home – thanks to the Oil Search First Home Ownership Scheme.
Pirah, from Chimbu, had been working for Oil Search for five years as a field operator.
“I felt excited when the company launched its first home ownership scheme this year as buying a house was always a top priority for me. So I took advantage of this great opportunity,” Pirah said.
“I have a young family and I wanted them to feel safe in a good community and I have achieved that with the purchase of this new home. I am very thankful to my employer, Oil Search, for helping me to achieve this dream.”
With a background in electro-technology, Pirah’s main role at the central processing facility at Kutubu is to ensure crude oil flows safely to the processing facility and is ready for export.
Oil Search executive general manager for Stakeholder Engagement Gerea Aopi shared the excitement with Pirah and his family.
“It is wonderful to see how the first home ownership scheme is helping change the lives of our employees such as Jonathan. Our employees are the company’s greatest asset,” Aopi said.
“We are committed to supporting our staff in securing and owning their first home.
“The first home ownership scheme is also in line with the government’s first home ownership initiative which is considered to be a catalyst for growth in the housing market.”
