OIL Search has delivered about 284 projects in six provinces under its tax credit scheme in the past 26 years, according to executive general manager for stakeholder management Gerea Aopi.
He said this during a workshop in Port Moresby on Wednesday.
Aopi said under its tax credit scheme, Oil Search was supporting the National Government’s development priorities.
“We focus on health, district administration, education and law-and-order,” he said.
“We’ve been operating in PNG for the past 89 years.
“We have a couple of responsibilities that the company is undertaking through its Oil Search foundation in terms of delivering services, women’s empowerment and leadership.
“We’ve been working together with the Health Department in running the hospital in Hela.
“The key element of our success is the relationship with community and the government.
“The old Pineapple Building (Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc Haus), Kutubu High School and undertaking construction of the old football stadium on behalf of the government are some of the projects.”
Aopi said Oil Search was continuing to deliver projects and acknowledged district and provincial governments for signing off focused areas.
“Majority of the projects were delivered on time with the allocated budget,” he said.
Aopi said despite compensation claims and law-and-order problems, projects due would be completed by the end of this year or early next year.
