OIL Search says the company’s operations in the country remain protected by strict quarantine measures, activity controls and staff roster protocols that were implemented last year.
Oil Search, in a statement yesterday, said that there was no Covid-19 cases reported in their field operations.
However, in response to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases around the country, the company further strengthened efforts to protect its people and maintain safe and reliable operations.
The instituted measures include:

  • THE company enacting its crisis and emergency management plans with teams in PNG and Sydney actively managing and monitoring the situation;
  • PNG field locations continuing to operate under precautionary protocols established last year, which included redeployment of non-essential personnel, restriction of access and travel to field locations and implementation of strict preventative measures and quarantine zones;
  • ENACTING additional risk mitigation measures including acquiring additional testing equipment and extending the quarantine period for employees and contractors going to the field;
  • REDUCING staffing at the Port Moresby office to a core team of medical, security and facilities personnel with daily testing conducted on employees in the office; and,
  • SUPPORTING the National Government through procurement and delivery of nearly 500,000 items of personal protective equipment.

Oil Search managing director Dr Keiran Wulff said: “The Covid-19 is a growing threat to the people of Papua New Guinea.
“We are doing everything to ensure that our employees can continue to work safely, and to support their families as they do so.”
