A WOMAN charged with conspiracy to defraud, false pretence and misappropriation of funds belonging to Lydia Humboi of Suara No.71 Ltd was committed to stand trial in the Waigani National Court.
Magistrate Garry Unjo, on Thursday, while committing Norma Maher, 38, of Kaviananga village in Kiunga, Western, ruled that there was sufficient evidence for Maher to stand trial and adjourned the case to Dec 20 for Section 96 submission.
Police alleged that in 2009, Maher had fraudulently collected rentals from the retailing and guesthouse property rented by HQH Enterprise Ltd.
The defendant allegedly claimed she was the owner of the properties and conspired with the tenants and diverted all the monthly rentals to herself. When the complainant asked the defendant for the payments, the defendant became aggressive and did not give all the payments or justify how she had spent the collected rentals.
