THE Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea last week hosted a one-day camp to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of National Basketball Association legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi.
The camp was hosted by Niunet PNG Limited chief executive David Valentine and CHM group manager Aaron Chin.
The camp saw kids between the ages of 13 and 18 undergo dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and defending drills with former PNG representative Sibona Kala and fellow basketball enthusiasts at the Taurama Aquatic Centre.
Chin met Bryant in 2019 and shared his meeting with the kids and awarded yellow Sony Bluetooth speakers to the winners.
“I’m a huge basketball fan and I wanted to support David and his team to remember Kobe, I love what they’re doing here, Kobe was a shining example of success which the kids can learn a lot from his legacy,” Chin said.
At the end of the camp, they conducted a skills challenge.
The winners of the skills challenge along with players that showed and represented Bryant’s core values of resilience, fearlessness, obsessiveness, relentlessness, and passion during the day, were awarded Sony Extra Bass Bluetooth speakers by CHM.
