A BOAT carrying 11 people, including the skipper and his crew, capsized in rough seas off Kandrian in West New Britain last week.
The incident happened last Thursday in bad weather and was reported to Kimbe police the next day. According to the acting provincial police commander Senior Inspector Daniel Yangan, one has been confirmed dead and three are missing. Yangan said the rural police station commander of Kandrian was one of those three people who were missing.
The body of the deceased; a female, was flown by chopper to Kimbe where it was kept in the hospital morgue.
The other seven survived the mishap. Five of them were also airlifted on Saturday for medical check-up at the Kimbe General Hospital. Police in Kimbe were dispatched to Kandrian to help search for the missing passengers.
