ONE man died and two were injured when the driver lost control of his vehicle near the Ulagunan Power Station at Butuwin village in Kokopo last Sunday, police said.
The vehicle hit a ditch before rolling several times and ended up against a power pole, police commander Inspector Joseph Tabali said.
Tabali told The National that the hire vehicle was carrying passengers from the village when the accident occurred.
The driver, from Ulagunan village, escaped from the scene.
“I appeal to the people of Ulagunan that if they sight him anywhere they must bring him to the police,” Tabali said.
Of the injured, two had broken ribs and one a broken leg. The deceased was identified as Vincent Mide, 38, who was married to a woman from the Ulagunan village.
