O’Neill: Be positive, believe that we have a bright future

PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill has urged the people to take pride in how far the country has developed in the past 40 years, and not dwell on negatives.
Addressing a business breakfast in Port Moresby this week, he referred to The National’s front page article on Captain Beverly Pakii – the first female pilot to be in command of an Air Niugini passenger jet aircraft, and the first female pilot in the country to do so.
“We have to be positive about our country and ourselves,” O’Neill said.
“If we are not positive, nobody else will. Believe that our country has got a bright future, bright opportunity – and we can only achieve that by working together.
“Many a times, we spend too much time being negative and talking ourselves down.
“We need to start to be positive.
“I am very confident about our future.
“Because we know that we have the right policy that will drive the economic growth that we all want, drive the development that we want for our people, particularly the delivery of services to those who need it most.”
