O’Neill’s leadership gets top praise

Letters

THE leadership of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and his government should be commended for the major development projects that have been completed around the country.
There have been many critics and they are entitled to their opinions. At the helm leading the government, our PM has made bold decisions which he is entitled to make as the leader of an elected government.
As prime minister he has successfully accomplished many feats. Major towns and cities like Mt Hagen, Lae and Kokopo are getting facelifts with four-lane roads built, water and sewerage systems upgraded, and maritime equipment improved.
There is real change happening around the country.
Respective government departments have strengthened their management structures and put in place policies to achieve better outcomes.
The Finance department has rolled out a new integrated financial system which can better control funds allocated to districts and provinces.
The hosting of Apec had been widely criticised. However, I would like tell our fellow citizens that in order to gain something we have to sacrifice.
The government has spent a lot of money on Apec but in return we will see some big trade and investment agreements worth billions of kina.
The hosting of Apec is an accomplishment that is historic and will benefit our country in the long term.
