A WOMAN member of the Huon Gulf procurement committee is preparing to support her district with services and developments.
Soki Bewa, the only women in the committee of five, said it was not easy for development to reach her district because most times people were not cooperating.
“Many times, there is no teamwork among leaders and the people,” she said.
“When leaders want to talk and bring development into communities, there is always a barrier.
“But MPs try their best to work with the people to bring basic services into the rural communities.”
Bewa said now that she had power in decision making, service delivery and managing resources for her people, she would demonstrate her full potential to make sure her people get the best service they need.
“This NPC (national procurement committee) programme will help us to work as a team to deliver services to the district,” she said.
“I want my district to receive basic services such as education, health, water supply, roads and life skills training for the people.”
Bewa is a former district administrator.
