Open church accounts

Letters

THE two Lutheran church accounts with a commercial bank in Wewak have been frozen since January, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea synod is near.
We were advised that the accounts were restricted from telephone instructions from the ELCPNG head bishop.
Emails and phone calls to the ELCPNG head office in Ampo were not answered.
We need clean water, sanitation, electricity, amongst other vital services, during this critical period, with Wewak a possible Covid hot-spot.
I, as the overseer here, challenge the ELCPNG head bishop to respond to the situation.
Congregants, lives are being compromised when ignorance starts to take control of our common sense in critical times like this.
Every global institution is finding ways to limit compromising situations, which enhances the confinement and isolation of Covid-19’s spread, knowing divine providence in dire times only work when the round nut above our shoulders takes its fair share of responsibility.
