Oscar gets Eagles over Defence

BROWN Eagles survived a strong fight against the an improved Defence to eventually win 4-1 in the first game of Port Moresby men’s A grade softball competition at Bisini diamonds yesterday.
Organisers called off last week’s round of matches and proceeded to the next round with teams keen to maintain their momentum.
Eagles’ runner, Buragat Oscar crossed home plate for two vital runs in the first and third innings to help his side register a much-needed win.
Oscar along with Jonah ToKiong and Bernard ToAlbert, were the standout performers for the Eagles scoring their side’s points.
Defence had to adjust their pitching to try to keep the Eagles from taking off and they managed to do that for the most part but it was with the bat that they could not have an impact themselves.
Sluggers Chris Paak, James Koak and Kepas Mormor started the match off well but could not maintain the consistency throughout the game.
Defence had the opportunity to register points while they had players on bases in the second inning and third innings but poor batting let them down.
