Our people have power

MANY of us today make ourselves believe that the Government is evil and blame everything that goes wrong on the Government.

But many times we fail to educate the real people on how to choose right leaders.

The people with power are not the 111 Members of Parliament but it is us, the seven million Papua New Guineans who have the power to elect them to represent us and make decisions on our behalf.

We should educate our people to vote for the right leaders.

Sadly, whether our people are educated or not, whether they are Christians or not, majority of us vote for a leader because of bribery or because of the “wantok” system.

We vote because we expect material goods from the winning MPs.

I hope next time, if we want to blame the 111 MPs, don’t forget to blame ourselves, the real people with power.
