Over 270 clans open bank accounts to receive benefits

A BANK account opening exercise for the Petroleum Development Licence No.7 (PDL7) beneficiaries of the PNGLNG project has been successfully completed, according to the Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC).
The exercise conducted by MRDC and the Department of Petroleum saw a total of 273 clans out of 279 participate by opening accounts with Bank South Pacific (BSP) and Kina Bank in Hides, Hela.
The programme which ran over seven days saw close to 1,340 executives signed as clan signatories to the bank accounts that would hold royalties and equity payments, including outstanding payments since 2014.
Clans in Parepare, Keteranda, Timala Kangulu, Towanda Tokaju, the Middle and Tuguba regions went through the exercise peacefully and without incident.
The six regions are landowners of the LNG gas well heads, the gas conditioning plant and surrounding impacted area in the Komo local level government of Exxon Mobil PNG’s LNG project.
