PAGA Panthers and Souths kept their Port Moresby Rugby League (PRL) seasons alive after defeating their opponents in the second week of the finals on Saturday.
Souths stood out in the dying minutes to edge Brothers 16-14 to earn the right to take on Royals.
The Panthers-Tarangau fixture ended differently.
Tarangau players disputed a try to the Panthers and the game was called off in the 54th minute.
Since the Panthers were leading 28-6 when the match was called off, the PRL management decided to award the win to Richard Wagambie’s men.
The Panthers will now take on Chris Enara’s Magani in the semifinal at the National Football stadium this weekend.
All the major semifinals for all divisions — A-grade, women’s and U20s — will start this weekend but due to the Grade 12 national examinations, the fixtures may be postponed.
“Otherwise, the major semifinals are set to go and that will be the third week of the finals for the Port Moresby Rugby League,” competition coordinator David Silovo said.
