PAINT manufacturer AkzoNobel launched its colour of the year for 2019 in Port Moresby yesterday to empower and inspire customers to paint their buildings.
Country manager Ravendren Kanniah said the colour of the year was a culture that they introduced, according to the mood of the world.
“This is basically to inspire and empower people, especially customers,” he said.
“If you go to any part of the country or the world, you will see the same trend in the colour of the paintings of buildings.”
Kanniah said they usually promoted the colours to their customers.
“The colour we choose is based from around the world,” he said. “We need to be in the same trend with the world.
Marketing manager Miriam Paliou said that every year AkzoNobel commissioned an annual study about global design trends called ColourFutures.
She said they collaborated with influential colour and design experts to discuss emerging worldwide trends.
“These experts draw on a multitude of sources: Fine art, technology, design, architecture, nature, fashion and popular culture,” Paliou said.
She said they identified sixty colours within the palettes and nominated one important one as the colour of the year.
“The predicted mood for next year was a feeling of throwing open our windows and facing the world,” Paliou said.
“Research shows that people all over the world are experiencing a renewed sense of energy, optimism and purpose.
“The theme is, ‘Let the light in’ and the colour is creme brulee.”
