Pala swears in citizens advisory committee

ACTING Governor-General Ano Pala yesterday swore in members to the Citizens Advisory Committee.
They are chairman Mathew Poia – Goilala MP, deputy chairman Jack Cameron – Kiriwina- Goodenough MP, Dr Lawrence Kalinoe – secretary of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, and Mataio Rabura – chief immigration officer.
In making the appointments, Pala noted the significant role that the committee plays in determining the suitability and eligibility of applicants who wish to become naturalised Papua New Guinea citizens in accordance with constitutional requirements.
Poia thanked the government for the trust and confidence in him as chairman of the committee.
He said the committee would start work on the consideration of pending citizenship applications in the coming weeks.
