TRANSPORT Minister Ano Pala yesterday said he was waiting for the National Supply Tenders Board recommendation on the construction of jetties in Manus and New Ireland.
Pala told parliament during question time the government had approved three jetty projects.
He said the projects in the Sepik provinces had been contracted with funding through the government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
He said the jetty programme for Kavieng and Manus had been approved and would be funded by the government and the ADB.
Pala said the tender had been put out in the newspapers and the board had received many bids.
He said the board would have to go through the tendering process before recommendations were forwarded to his office to table before the NEC for approval.
said he was waiting for the recommendation before taking it to cabinet.
Pala was responding to a question from the member for Manus, Ronny Knight, who wanted to know why the CSTB gave only seven days for bidding.
Knight said that was insufficient time for bidders to do the scope of work, and he asked if the government could extend the time.
