FILIPINO lightweight contender Eduard “Landslide” Folayang picked up a huge win against Papua New Guinea-born Australian veteran Adrian “The Hunter” Pang to make it a clean sweep for Team Lakay at Saturday’s ONE Championship: Heroes of the World card at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China.
The talented Pinoy striker picked Pang apart standing up, unloading a barrage of solid punches and kicks, while showing improved takedown and grappling defence.
Incredibly, Pang walked through multiple clean strikes, as it became evident that he could somehow handle Folayang’s power.
Whenever Pang would close the gap, a grappling battle ensued with Pang threatening with guillotine choke submissions.
Towards the end of the first round, Folayang blasted Pang with a solid spinning backfist that wobbled the 38-year-old.
Fortunately for Pang, his chin and conditioning ensured he made it out of the round.
Pang threatened Folayang in the second round with a tight guillotine choke, but Folayang managed to escape and take the dominant position on the ground.
Folayang dished out some punishment before getting back on the feet and lighting Pang up some more.
Folayang started round three strong, dropping Pang with a stiff right and contolled Pang on the ground, but the durable Brisbane man managed to reverse the position and control Folayang for the rest of the final round.
The rally was a little too late for Pang, as Folayang did enough to take the unanimous decison win after three rounds.
Folayang improved to 16-5-0 with his most complete victory as a mixed martial artist while for Pang (28-3-2), this was his first loss in five years. – ABS-CBN Sports
