Pangia rugby league comp gets boost from local businessman

PANGIA rugby league ended its season proper on Saturday on a better note with its future looking bright.
Local businessman Timothy Titipu donated K5,000 to help the league get back on its feet starting next season.
Provincial administrator William Powi and Port Moresby-based lawyer Felix Kange contributed K1,000 each.
Kange also provided trophies and prizes for the presentation at Pangia station.
Titipu while pledging support said that the local league over time had nurtured and produced Kumuls but needed players, officials and the supporters to change their attitude to see further success and to enjoy in the growth of the sport in Pangia and the Southern Highlands.
“Rugby league and sports in general is a healthy and constructive activity and I am happy to contribute and to help make a difference in young people’s lives in a little way by supporting sports in Pangia and in the province,” Titipu said.
An elated Pangia rugby league president Jack Kipoi thanked the three for their support on behalf of his executives, players and the people of the district.
Titipu was officially invited to witness the grand final between Tarangau and Rabbitohs.
Tarangau won the match 10-6 after trailing 4-6 at halftime.
The Pangia local league has produced Kumul Raymond Karl, Port Moresby Vipers Joshua Poria and Mendi Muruks Felix Tangue and Matthew Puke.
