“I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt condolences to the families who have suffered such irreparable losses.
“I am truly sorry that it has come to this, and I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure that such incidents would never occur again in our constituency.
“To those who have been injured and those whose properties have been destroyed, please accept my sincere apologies. You did not deserve to endure these hardships.
“These were unprovoked situations that marred the democratic process, and I vow to take immediate action to promote healing, reconciliation, and the restoration of peace and security in our community.”
Akem also expressed his appreciation to the people of Lagaip.
“It is because of your unwavering support, trust, and belief in my leadership that we stand here today celebrating our victory. I am humbled by the mandate you have given me, and I promise to serve you with utmost dedication, integrity, and transparency,” he said.
“Together, we will build a prosperous and inclusive Lagaip where every individual’s voice is heard, and every dream has the opportunity to flourish.”
Akem also acknowledged the other candidates who contested in the supplementary election and said he was committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to bring about positive change.
“I want to also express my heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister and Pangu Pati leader James Marape for the endorsement and unwavering support.
“I also acknowledge National Planning and Monitoring Minister Rainbo Paita for your support.
“I am committed to fostering an environment of constructive dialogue, mutual respect and unity. Let’s build a Lagaip that thrives on justice, equality and prosperity.”
