KAGUA-ERAVE MP Maina Pano says addressing law and order in the district is a priority.
He said maintaining peace in communities was critical for progress and would give his full support to the efforts in addressing law and order issues.
“Tribal fights are a norm in Kagua-Erave but it has to stop,” he said.
Pano highlighted the importance of maintaining law and order to a crowd in Kolilombo Lutheran Mission station in Kagua local level government after the swearing in of the district development authority board members on Thursday.
A total of 11 board members were sworn in which included Pano as the chairman, four LLG (Kagua, Erave, Aiya and Kuare) presidents and a representative of women, youth, community, law and order and the churches.
He committed to purchase a police vehicle for ensuring law and order in the district.
According to the MP, the first order of business was to restore Kagua-Erave public service machinery to ensure that the development activities were effectively implemented in line with the set policies.
He said to meet with the public servants in the district and get a full report of what has been done in each of the sectors within the public service.
With the ongoing election related violence in Southern Highlands: “I am calling for candidates and leaders of the province to bring calmness and peace for the betterment of our provincial town. It’s important for peace to be restored as soon as possible with the support of all our leaders.”
