PAPA Primary School students in Central will, for the first time, receive free education, courtesy of a K30,000 payment made by Papa Resource Development Ltd (PRDL).

PRDL chairman Heni Goro made the presentation yesterday at the Papa Primary School grounds.

Goro encouraged students to strive for excellence in their studies and put forward the challenge that a couple of them should become doctors of philosophy in their respective fields.

“Developing our children to become intellectually responsible is a priority. They deserve a reasonable level of education so that they are able to meet the challenges of the PNG LNG project which will be going on near Papa village,” Goro said.

PRDL is a landowner company sanctioned by the PNG LNG project developer, Esso Highlands Ltd, to participate in business spin-off benefits deriving from the multi-billion kina project.

“PRDL belongs to the 2,000 plus people of Papa.

It is your company and as shareholders, you have every right to receive benefits deriving from this huge project. School fees are no exception.

“I am certain that the government of PNG, Esso Highlands Ltd and world financial institutions who have pumped in millions of kina in the PNG LNG project, are watching with keen interest on how to manage the project benefits,” Goro said.
