THE four-storey Papindo shopping centre located on 7th St in Top Town, Lae, Morobe, opened its fourth floor to the public on Wednesday.
Papindo group of companies director Alfred Yau told The National the fourth floor was for the people to bring their children for fun and enjoyment.
“We want to make the Papindo shopping centre a one-stop centre for the people of Lae,” he said.
“They can visit the shop to buy groceries at the supermarket, or get gifts at the department store but they can also bring their children to have fun.”
The fourth floor has a food court and a game zone, with a jumping gym for children (two to 12 years).
The food court has Kopi Haus which sells coffee, ice cream, cakes and will soon sell cotton candy.
It has Lae Fish Supply Kai Bar and their own brand of fried chicken at the Kakaruk Haus.
The game zone has video games, basketball machines and other games for teenagers and children.
The shopping centre was opened last August with the super market on first floor, department store on second floor and retail shops floor on the third floor.
The retail floor currently has a bmobile kiosk, Fone Haus and PC Haus outlets.
“This year will be Papindo’s 45th anniversary and it is great to have this fourth floor open,” Yau said.
Papindo has been here for 45 years, and we want to be the first in Lae to do that.
He said they plan to have new games every three to four months so that children can come and enjoy.
