Paramana’s approach the key

PARAMANA’S no-nonsense approach in their run to the Port Moresby netball finals will be the catalyst for  tomorrow’s last hoorah.
The stakes, however, have risen, in the form of their opposition, reigning champions Esco Telstars.
Paramana coach Annie Iamo knows too well the terrain up ahead, with only the performance of her side, within her control.
“Telstars are a completely different side, they are a class of their own, with their fitness, their direction and tempo,” Iamo said.
“We are going to work on our own game, and hope to come up with a plan that will suit our strengths.”
The challenge will come to the experience of Paramana’s own, who were in last season,s losing grand final side.
Ravu Raula, Vavine Iamo, Mary Age, Renagi Dringo and Rakara Raula will want to change the outcome of this “revisited” match, 12 months down the line, especially now, with the luxury of in form U/21 duo, Marie Ottio and Yvonne Vele.
Iamo also pointed to minimal mistakes as the key to any kind of advantage for either side in the final.
Telstars, meanwhile, are quietly building their week up, with tradition still intact and its engine room all dusted.
The defending champions, having given opponents very little breathing space time, are not looking to change anything.
The class of Mona-Lisa Leka, Gamini Goroka and the fiery Toka Kini-Aua in the heat of contest will again stand to deliver at the ring, while Julienne Diro and Raka Nope might have to work hard at containing Paramana’s Geua Raula.
Preparations going to the weekend have given very little to team time due to representative commitments for both sides, however, this has not deterred any kind of confidence for what should be a loud day at the Rita Flynn Courts.   
Both sides meet again for the capitals premiership honours, and may well be the opportunity for the Aroma coast flagship to change the reigning Hula dominance in netball.
