WITH the conclusion of a Catholic tertiary students’ formation convention at the Don Bosco technical college in Kerowagi, Chimbu, last week, parents and community members expressed their gratitude to the Kundiawa Catholic diocese for hosting the gathering.
Parent Bob Drekore Wai from Mingende, Kerowagi, said two of his children who attended the weeklong convention had benefited from the experience having been given the opportunity to be servant leaders.
“We Catholic parents have done our best in forming our children when they were young,” Wai said.
“As they are reaching young adults they are exposed to the open environment.
“For the Diocese of Kundiawa to host such a programme that enriches young people and helps them find purpose in life, their place in the Church, and the pastoral plans at both the national and the parish level is great for them,” he said.
A community representative from the hosting Kerowagi district, also thanked the students and urged them to remain close to God in prayer and in deeds while pursuing their personal goals.
The student attendees also expressed their satisfaction at being part of the convention which was a memorable and life-changing experience.
Pauline Auro, a final-year university student, said many students tended to wander away from their Catholic faith as they pursued their education and other interests and being involved in such programmes in their local parishes was invigorating.
