Parents urged to involve children in family activities

PARENTS must involve their children in taking part in family organised activities such as working the land and planting food and cash crops, an official says.
Pomio deputy administrator John Liskia urged parents not to allow their children to roam around playing music in their boom boxes and creating social issues in the communities but get them involved in earning a living off their land and resources.
Liskia said this last week at the end of a one-week coconut downstream processing training in Lat ward in the Sinivit local level government (LLG).
He said it was the first time for the Kokonas Indastri Koporesen (KIK) programme to be run in the district and they were privileged to be the first community in the district to undergo such training.
“I challenge the people of Lat to take the skills and knowledge from the training as there were many opportunities to make use of those skills learned,” Liskia said.
