Pari land sales

Letters

I MAKE reference to a statement on Tuesday (April 3) by Justin Tkatchenko, Minister for Lands and Physical Planning, when presenting the incorporated land group (ILG) certificate to the Tubumaga Laurina Land Group of Pari village in NCD.
I wish to correct some misconception in the minister’s statement but first, I congratulate the Tubumaga Laurina Land Group’s success in securing the ILG certificate.
This will empower them to decisively deal with their traditional land.
For the benefit of the minister, the land at Pari has been carved up and sold and in an absolute mess, but has never been stolen.
The entire populace of Pari village know who from the same village sold traditional land along the Pari Road out of sheer greed for short-term benefits of cash and booze.
They still still end up as destitute scavengers.
I wish to advise the good minister to refrain from making sensitive statement, such as land having been stolen from the traditional land owners.
Such will only create unnecessary antagonism, tensions and hostilities.
