National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop says that the development in the nation’s capital is for the benefit of the country.
“All this investment, people around the country, they can complain but it’s not just for Powes Parkop or just for the residents for our city. It’s for the entire country,” Parkop said during the unveiling of the multi-million kina plan to redevelop Ela Beach.
“Ideally, we want even development and everybody to come up together, but that’s in an ideal world.
“In the practical world, some parts of a country progress first and then inspire everybody else to grow.”
Parkop said this happened in developed nations so this was not unusual for any country to see some parts were progressing first and others coming later.
“Let’s all not complain, let’s celebrate what’s happening in our capital city, (and) support it so that we can continue to roll it out (to other parts of the country).
“We are promoting our country, our people, our culture, the gateway. First impression is important, last impression is important.
“These are major developments that we should celebrate and welcome.”
