NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has registered his Social Democratic Party (SDP) with the office of the registrar of political parties.
SDP president Wesley Sanarup and public officer David Dom Kua met with the registrar yesterday afternoon to complete formalities.
Parkop said in a statement the country was only as good as its leaders.
“If the country has good, honest, quality and visionary leaders, it will build a quality life and standard of living for its people.
“For PNG to achieve and realise its potential, it must have leaders with such virtues to provide quality leadership that can deliver tangible social and economic gains to the people.
“The SDP seeks to be a party that can serve as a catalyst for identifying, grooming and producing quality political leaders that our country and our people desperately needs,” he said.
“By adopting the name Social Democratic Party, we are uniting the old and the new so that we can build a better future for our nation and our people.”
