Parliament reverses committee

PARLIAMENT reversed the membership of the private members committee after new members were elected last Friday in a motion by Opposition Leader Belden Namah.
The committee decides on any motion of confidence to be tabled in Parliament.
Leader of Government Business Rainbo Paita moved a motion to replace the private business committee named last Friday by Namah consisting of Peter Isoaimo (Kairuku-Hiri), Jeffrey Komal (Nipa-Kutubu), Alfred Manase (Kandep), Tomait Kapili (Lagaip-Porgera) and Elias Kapavore (Pomio).
Reinstated as members of the committee are Charlie Benjamin (Manus), Philip Undialu (Hela), Robert Agarobe (Central), Toboi Awi Yoto (Western), and William Powi (Southern Highlands).
Parliament passed the Appropriation (National Parliament 2021) Bill to allocate from the consolidated revenue fund K137,069,000 for the Parliament Operational Expenditure in 2021.
The funding is to cover personnel emoluments at the cost of K117 million, goods and services at K11.5mil and capital investment at K8mil.
Also passed yesterday were the Appropriation (General Public Services Expenditure 2021) Bill 2020 and Appropriate (Judiciary Services 2021) Bill 2020.
Parliament also passed Exercise Tariff (2021 Budget) (Amendment) Bill 2020, Income Tax (2021) Bill 2020 and the Customs (2021 Budget) (Amendment) bill 2020.
