Partnership to offer services

A JOINT venture (JV) partnership has been formed to provide logistical services in Gulf as well as the Papua LNG and P’nyang projects in the region.
The establishment of Gulf Maritime Services Limited (GMS) through JV partnership between Steamships and Gobe Freight Services (GFS) as well as the Gulf government will provide marine and land logistics support.
During the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Steamships, GFS and the Gulf provincial government in Port Moresby yesterday, Gulf governor Chris Haiveta said the partnership would put GMS in a strong position to tender for projects and contracts related to P’nyang and Papua LNG projects.
Haiveta said they hoped to use this opportunity to create more opportunities for growth, development and employment in the province and the Southern region.
Haiveta said this was not just about the oil and gas sector but also included the general trade in the province.
Steamships managing director Rupert Bray predicted that GMS would be a successful venture, given its stakeholders were all well positioned in business.
