MORESBY South MP Justin Tkatchenko has told leaders that partnership is the key to getting results from the district service improvement programme (DSIP) funds from the government each year.
Tkatchenko, who is also the Minister for Lands and Physical Planning, told the annual Leaders’ Summit in Port Moresby last week that developments were taking place in his Moresby South electorate over the last six years.
“I want to stress here that the key to getting the results for your DSIP funds is partnership,” he said.
“Partnerships with provincial government, development partners, donor agencies, national agencies of state, our bilateral and multilateral partners, the private sectors – this is the key to bringing changes and development to your people using the DSIP funds.”
Tkatchenko said through partnership with NCD Governor Powes Parkop, Moresby South was able to achieve significant progress in education, health, law and order, social sectors and community developments from the DSIP funds it received from the Government.
“Through partnership with the NCD governor, when we committed K1million on a project, the governor puts another K1million.
“So for the K10million DSIP we received annually, through our partnership with NCD governor, we are implementing projects worth around K20million or more.
“I can do twice as much on what I receive and that’s why districts working in partnership with provincial governments is very important.
“That is where you get your development as open members to serve your people.” Tkatchenko said. Moresby South had achieved a lot since 2012 because of DSIP funds, effective communication and partnerships.
