Pastors attend mission conference in Goroka

PASTORS and preachers from the Baptist church throughout the Highlands region attended a national mission conference recently in Goroka to discuss issues affecting the future of their churches.
The three-day conference themed ‘Onward and beyond’ was attended by 36 participants from Mendi, Mt Hagen, Chimbu and Eastern Highlands and was hosted by the Open Bible Baptist church.
Pastor Philip Sorulen from the Calvary Baptist church in Lae was the guest speaker.
Goroka Baptist church pastor Pinna Minia said it was the first ever national mission conference to be hosted by his church and it was a privilege for them.
He said the main purpose of the conference was to prepare the next generation of missionaries to reach out and go beyond their regions and nation and preach the Gospel of Christ.
“With the problems faced today by the country and throughout the world, we have to prepare our next generation of missionaries and preachers to reach out and beyond our shores to preach God’s Word and to know that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and is our saviour.”
Pinna praised his organising committee for successfully hosting the conference and confirmed that the next mission conference would be hosted again by Open Bible Baptist Church in November, 2018.
