NATIONAL Housing Estate Ltd chief executive officer Madeline Paulisbo has branded as “totally false” allegations against her attributed to former National Housing Corporation managing director Paul Asukusa yesterday.

She denied the allegations made by Asukusa in The National yesterday and said they would “be proven in court”. The allegations included the sale of NHC residential properties in Port Moresby – one to her husband Ron Gawi.

Gawi, on behalf of his wife, said in a statement yesterday: “The report attributed to Paul Asukusa in today’s paper is totally false. (Madeleine) Paulisbo can prove this many times over, and in fact, all these allegations are before the courts right now with facts to prove her innocence except it’s tendered to obtain a stay order.

“Paul (Asukusa), as the then managing director, is the person to make final decisions. The buck starts with him and ends with him.

“How can he be now claiming she sold houses when she was an implementer of executive management’s decisions including the sale of houses? This includes the house which Paul (Asukusa) is alleging was sold to me which is totally false.

“This house was approved by the board and offered to us as joint purchasers under her staff home ownership benefits.”

Gawi said certain people “with money” were trying to have Paulisbo arrested “as a means of sidelining her”.

“The whole matter was blown up last week because her arrest was not accomplished under the plan of the instigators.”
