As stipulated in the Teaching Service Commission booklet for teachers for this year, it is clearly revealed that the Government component (payment) of K250 for elementary school teachers and K300 for primary, secondary, school teachers housing allowance on a one off payment yearly has been prolonged for years.
This significant allowance was last paid in 2011 under the previous arrangement on housing allowances.
Therefore, the Teaching Service Commission and the Education Department should backdate the amount stated therein and have it paid before this year ends.
It is one responsibility for the authority concern to rectify at a time that the Coronavirus Delta variant is making a mark around the country.
Over to the Teaching Service Commission and the Education Department for clarifications.
