Pay up, franchise clubs told

THE National Soccer League board is urging franchise clubs taking part in the 2010-11 Telikom National Soccer League (NSL) to pay up their K75,000 affiliation fees before the deadline on Aug 30.
The board has given the green light for seven franchise clubs for this season’s semi-professional league competition, while Moresby Casino Hotel FC, formerly CMSS Tigers have pulled out for personal reasons.
This leaves, defending champions Hekari United FC and Eastern Stars FC, the only two teams from Port Moresby participating in the competition.
The other teams are last season’s runners-up Gigira Laitepo Morobe FC, University Lae FC and Besta PNG United from Lae, Madang United FC and Petro Souths FC, the only club from the highlands region.
NSL operations manager Edward Tauloi said strict guidelines would be enforced to ensure that all franchises paid up on time.
Tauloi said some franchises had been falling behind when it came to paying up.
He wants clubs to take a different approach in ensuring they completed their payments by the end of this month.
The season draws are set and will be released shortly with the season expected to kick off on Oct 9 followed by the grand final set for next March 3.
