People’s conduct good, says MP

 JIWAKA Governor Dr William Tongamp has thanked the people for conducting themselves responsibly when an election petition against him was heard in the National Court in Minj.

Tongamp said the people showed their respect for the court, public facilities and other members of the public.

“Jiwaka is a new province and I want to commend the people for showing maturity and understanding,” he said.

He said plans for development had been slowed down by the election petition filed against him by former MP Jamie Maxtone-Graham.

Tongamp said positions in the Jiwaka public services would be advertised next week.

He said acting appointments on senior management positions were made.

“We will keep some of our senior public servants in the province to lead others,” he said.

Tongamp said the Waghi Klos warehouse was being renovated to cater for the 16 programme managers and  support staff.

He said programme managers would work six days a week.

“Every Saturday, the managers will brief me and others on what they did during the week and what they will do next week,” he said.

Tongamp said managers would know what their colleagues were doing which should be in line with provincial plans.

He said the first budget meeting would be on Monday in Banz.
